Comments Instructions

Comments are due one week after the blogs are due at the beginning of class.  You must do 5 comments on 5 different blogs. 2 of those comments should be Reflections, 2 should be Inquiries, and 1 should be a Suggestion. This class will use the RISE model (risemodel.com) for evaluating all student work. This method measures the level of student thinking and ability to process information. Points will be assigned based on the difficulty of the assignment on the RISE scale as follows:

  • ReflectStudents will be asked to respond to two different blogs through direct comment. The minimum requirement for a reflection post is that you could not copy it and use it on another post. You actually have to address a point in the blog you are reading. Two Reflection Posts will be counted for every comments section for a total of 10 points (5 points each)
  • InquireStudents will submit Inquiry posts to two different blogs. Inquiry posts must consist of a citation and a brief statement as to why that citation is relevant. Two Inquiry Posts will be counted for every comments section for a total of 20 points (10 points each)
  • SuggestA suggestion consists of a brief selection from blog, rewriting that selection, and backing up your rewrite with a citation. In order to get Suggestion points you must quote the blog directly and provide a replacement quote as well as citation that justifies that your replacement improves the ideas in the blog. One Suggestion Post will be counted for every comments section for a total of 30 points (30 points each)

Please indicate what kind of comment you think you are posting at the beginning of the comment. For example: ‘

  • Reflection: The Environmental Protection Agency is an interesting example of the Federal Government using the Interstate Commerce Clause to justify government action….”
  • Inquiry:….
  • Suggestion:…
